Hong Kong Airport Layover!

Some quick hits and musings from the flight so far!

1. It's really weird not having my cell phone. I might need to get a watch or something.

2. Awesome moment waiting in the security line at SFO where I saw they had the ziplock bags available for toiletries and since they were pretty high quality ones I took like 4. Noticing my behavior an old Filipino woman in front of me and an old Chinese woman behind me took like 4 also.

3. Cathay Pacific Airlines has the best economy class everything I've ever seen. The seats are pretty spacious, there's a ton of movies and shows on demand, the stewardesses are really nice (and pretty), and the food wasn't bad either.

4. Also with regards to on demand shows I've never watch Anthony Bourdain's "No Reservations" but I've more less decided I want to be him. But less dorky. He's like sort of a dork. But sometimes he's sort of a bro. Either way I want to travel and have people take me to the tasty spots and the such. I'm definetely adding a bunch of places to my New York list of things to eat and I really want to go to Chicago and Sri Lanka now too.

5. I'm in the Hong Kong airport for about 3 hours and have already had a pretty decent bowl of Taiwanese Beef Noodles! Now what to do with the next 2 hours...

6. The guy I was sitting next to flies corporate jets for a living. Pretty fascinating stuff. He was from Phoenix AZ and has to sort of be on call all day errday and will have to split his time between China and the US. He also told me how airline gigs are like the stable ones but really boring whereas the corporate stuff means you get to constantly go new and interesting places but it's much harder to maintain relationships.

7. Man vs Food LA - he went to some place called phillipes which i've never heard of. Looks like the best french dip evarrr.

Next entry will be in Tamil Nadu!!! Stay tuned! :::cue theme song:::

  1. whoa whoa whoa-- i can't believe you've never watched no reservations... i would've called bourdain as your hero (he's a native new yorker btw).

also, you've never been to phillipes? it's like kind of an LA institution, and it's in chinatown basically. i think it's overrated though, much better french dip elsewhere in LA.

this post surprised me in a some ways... what wasn't confusing were the old ladies taking plastic bags. heck yeah free stuff!
